Eddie Guerrero found dead

Tuesday, November 15th, 2005

MINNEAPOLIS - A World Wrestling Entertainment star was found dead in his hotel room Sunday in Minneapolis, where he was scheduled to appear that evening in a WWE show.

Eduardo Gory Guerrero, 38, didn’t respond to a wake-up call Sunday morning, authorities said. His nephew, fellow WWE wrestler Chavo Guerrero, and hotel security at the Minneapolis Marriott City Center forced their way into the room and found him.

There were no apparent signs of foul play, police said. An autopsy was planned to determine how Guerrero died.

His nephew said Guerrero was open about past drug and alcohol abuse but had been sober for four years. Guerrero was married and had three children.

“This is a huge loss,” said WWE chairman Vince McMahon. “Eddie was a wonderful, fun-loving human being. Eddie was a consummate performer.”

Guerrero was a featured star on the UPN series “WWE Smackdown!” and son of Mexican wrestler Gory Guerrero. Last year, he became the second wrestler of Hispanic heritage to be WWE champion, though he lost the title four months later.

UPN also aired a special last year on his life, “Cheating Death, Stealing Life: The Eddie Guerrero Story.” The program chronicled Guerrero’s childhood and his struggle with drug addiction that almost cost him his job, family and life.

Thanking God for one hell of a day (Nov 7)

Wednesday, November 9th, 2005

It is the seventh of November and it is the day in which the enrollment for the second semester in the University of the Philippines begins. I prepared myself for this day with the memory of my previous enrollment back in the 13th of May (according to my form 5). It was summer and under the scorching sun, I found my way back and fourth from the College of Business Administration to the Palma Hall (at least that is what I called it during that time). I remember having to change one of my subjects & having to choose from a limited pool of subjects. What I do recall most of that day is the cold droplets of sweat making its way from my chest down to my stomach. Armed with such memory, I have come to anticipate the heat, the hours of falling in line, the paranoia of not knowing where to go next, the disappointment of not getting the subjects I ever so wanted and a bucket load of perspiration just to name a few.

I thought at first I have anticipated this day quite well but today isn’t May 13 but November 7, moreover it’s not summer anymore. The day started raining which made the sidewalks slippery. I had to get subjects manually since not all of my subjects were acquired in the Internet. There were more lines to get to and a lot less subjects to choose from. By 9 am, the sun was up to and by 10 the sun was unbearable. When I reached the gym to get a PE class, someone announced their lunch break. I skipped lunch just to get ahead of the line. There was sunshine up to the rain at that moment & hunger pangs started to hit me. I tried wiping my sweat but there was too much and the only two things that were able to cool my body were air-conditioning and the cool breeze of wind I get riding a jeep. Boredom was starting to undermine me and my schedule couldn’t get any worse because of its 6 hours and a half break time. The payment line in the AS lobby was like half a kilometer long and my aching feet is desperate for a rest.

The day got tougher and tougher but somehow I managed to finish my enrollment by 4 pm. I paid my enrollment fee in the PNB where the line had only eight people. After paying I ate lunch in the shopping center & went home safe and sound. After all was said and done, I was able to enjoy the comfort of my home. I was able to acquire 16 units and re schedule my PE. Everything I came for was accomplished and it just happened that I survived this day to live another. Nevertheless, it was not all about me and I should give credit to the one that carried me. I thank God that I made it home and that nothing was left undone. I thank God for giving me friends that stuck with me through the day. I thank God for one hell of a day.

Just let me go - 3 doors down

One more kiss could be the best thing

But one more lie could be the worst

And all these thoughts are never resting

And you’re not something I deserve

In my head there’s only you now

This world falls on me

In this world there’s real and make believe

And this seems real to me

[CHORUS:]

You love me but you don’t know who I am

I’m torn between this life I lead and where I stand

And you love me but you don’t know who I am

So let me go

Let me go

I dream ahead to what I hope for

And I turn my back on loving you

How can this love be a good thing

When I know what I’m goin’ through

In my head there’s only you now

This world falls on me

In this world there’s real and make believe

And this seems real to me

[CHORUS:]

You love me but you don’t know who I am

I’m torn between this life I lead and where I stand

You love me but you don’t know who I am

So let me go

Just let me go

Let me go

And no matter how hard I try

I can’t escape these things inside I know

I know

When all the pieces fall apart

You will be the only one who knows

Who knows

[CHORUS:]

You love me but you don’t know who I am

I’m torn between this life I lead and where I stand

And you love me but you don’t know who I am

So let me go

Just let me go

And you love me but you don’t

You love me but you don’t

You love me but you don’t know who I am

And you love me but you don’t

You love me but you don’t

You love me but you don’t know me

i had plans for today.. kaso nkalimutan ko.. & as a consequence.. nand2 ko sa bahay ng buong araw, trying to remember ano ba ung dapat kong gawin.. supposedly pupunta ko ng UP para kunin ung classcards ko.. tapos id go elsewhere para tumambay.. kaso nkalimutan ko.. d nman pwede pumunta ko ng UP bukas xe walang pasok.. declared as national holiday dahil end ng ramadan..

natalo nga pala ung dallas mavs againts sa utah jazz.. 93-82 yta ung score.. hindi ko masisisi ang dallas kahit na mahinang team ang jazz.. pagod xe ang dallas.. remember, they came of a double over-time win from phoenix.. talagang exhausting un.. kahit panalo cla.. kulang ang 12 hours para magpahinga at magre-strategize against another team.. 16 points lng c dirk nowitzki.. terrible compared sa 28 pts performance nya againts phoenix.. dont get me wrong.. i dont blame him.. against phoenix, he was guarded by shawn marion who is one of the best defenders in the league.. tapos 12 hours later.. ang magbabantay naman kay dirk ay c andrei kirelenko.. the so called AK-47.. tough loss para sa mavs xe it shows na may weakness ung bench players nila na dapat na nagstep-up.. pero i dnt blame them xe season opener ng utah un eh.. & utah just HAVE TO win

shud i feel guilt sa aking mga pagkukulang.. or shud i ignore her soulless cries.. hayyy.. bakit ko kya xa nakilala.. & bakit kya sya naging part ng buhay ko.. ryt now.. deep down.. nandun pa rin ung wound.. & to be honest.. i regret meeting her.. & saying those words i told her

Dallas 111, Phoenix 108, 2OT

Dallas 111, Phoenix 108, 2OT
Preview - Box Score - Recap

PHOENIX (AP) — Coach Avery Johnson saw a bit of himself in his Dallas Mavericks on an opening night that didn’t end until Wednesday morning.

Dirk Nowitzki scored 28 points and grabbed 15 rebounds and the Mavericks erased a 17-point fourth-quarter deficit to beat the Phoenix Suns 111-108 in double-overtime.

“If I was out there on that court tonight, I wouldn’t quit,” Johnson said. “I think this team really wants to have some of my personality. They talk to me a lot about that, and it’s kind of flattering. But when you really see it, man, these guys, they battled.”

The late-starting season-opener Tuesday night ended just after midnight, local time.

Nowitzki sank a pair of long jumpers and Keith Van Horn made a 3-pointer in the second overtime. After Van Horn made one of two free throws with 23.7 seconds to play, Steve Nash missed what would have been a game-tying 3-pointer at the final buzzer.

“That was a special game,” Nowitzki said. “To lose this one in double OT would have been really, really tough. To grind it out in the end was great.”

Jason Terry added 23 points for Dallas, including the game-tying layup at the end of the first overtime. Josh Howard had 16 points and 11 rebounds. Van Horn scored 15 and Marquis Daniels 13.

Nash scored 30, the same he averaged against his former Dallas team in last season’s Western Conference semifinals. He added nine assists and eight rebounds, but had six turnovers.

Raja Bell had 18 points in his first game for the Suns. Shawn Marion had 13 points and 16 rebounds, but was just 4-for-12 shooting overall. James Jones, another Phoenix newcomer, scored 13, including 3-of-6 3-pointers.

Dallas trailed 83-66 with 7 1/2 minutes to play in regulation and 101-96 with 36 seconds left in the first overtime.

“We let them back in it both times, and it hurts,” Nash said, “but I think that’s going too happen when you have a new team and so little familiarity with that situation. You know, these are growing pains we’re going to have to go through to become a good team.”

Phoenix was up 83-66 after a 9-0 run capped by Marion’s dunk with 7:44 to play in regulation.

“That’s when I started thinking, and that hurt us,” Suns coach Mike D’Antoni said.

Marion and four reserves had built the big lead, but the coach decided to put Nash back in with the idea of closing it out. Instead, the rally ensued and Nash was weary at the end.

Nowitzki sank three 3-pointers in a row in a 21-3 outburst that forced overtime, then Marquis Daniels sank a 3-pointer with 29 seconds to go in the first overtime, setting up Jason Terry’s layup at the buzzer that tied it at 101-101 to force the second OT.

But Van Horn made two free throws and a 3-pointer and the Suns turned cold from outside and sloppy with the ball.

“I think we just took a deep breath at the wrong time,” Bell said. “I think we just let our guard down, and they’re a team you shouldn’t do that against.”

Nowitzki’s third 3-pointer of the run cut the lead to 86-85 with 1:44 to play, then Terry’s layup put Dallas ahead 87-86 with 1:21 to go. Marion scored inside and was fouled but missed the free throw to give Phoenix an 88-87 lead with a minute remaining in regulation.

Terry followed with another layup to give Dallas a 89-88 lead. Nash missed a fadeaway, then Terry sank one of two free throws to put Dallas up 90-88 with 15.3 seconds to go.

Nash was fouled by Howard on a drive, and made both free throws to tie it at 90-90 with 4.4 seconds left in regulation. Nowitzki missed a tough jumper over Marion at the buzzer to force overtime.

Van Horn and Nowitzki credited the play of Darrell Armstrong, who brought energy to the floor when Terry and Devin Harris were both in foul trouble.

“He was really the key to winning this game,” Van Horn said. “He came out and really changed the game defensively. I think we all fed off his energy.”

It was a rematch of the teams that staged the high-scoring Western Conference semifinal series last season. But the Suns had just two starters, and four players overall, back from the team that won an NBA-best 62 regular-season games and lost to San Antonio in the conference finals.

A fifth returnee, all-star Amare Stoudemire, is out for at least four months while recovering from knee surgery.

Notes

Dallas C Pavel Podkolzin underwent surgery Tuesday to repair damage to his right foot and ankle. He is expected to be sidelined three to four months. … Stoudemire, out for at least four months, did not attend the game. …. The Suns were 6-of-17 on 3s; Dallas 7-of-15, 5-for-8 after the third quarter. … The crowd of 17,961 was 461 shy of a sellout.
